Behind the Lens: Tibetan Dancers in Dehradun

Capturing the Tibetan New Year (Losar) at the Buddha Temple was a high-speed challenge. The "Chham" dancers are a whirlwind of color, and as a photographer, you have to decide: do you freeze the moment or embrace the blur?

I opted for a high shutter speed to preserve the intricate details of the traditional masks and the heavy embroidery of the silks. I wanted the viewer to see the "stillness" within the chaos—the focused gaze behind the mask. The contrast between the vibrant, saturated primary colors of the costumes and the natural green of the temple grounds created a natural color pop that required very little post-processing.

The Photographer’s Take: Shooting cultural events is about more than just a "pretty picture"; it’s about using your camera to preserve a heartbeat of history that is constantly in motion.
